I’m pretty picky about my mixes, usually favoring to post individual tracks rather then an hour and a half of bangers. With laptop producing and the insane amount of mixing ability available to everyone, a mix really has to stand out and have some character.
This one does, sent to me a few days ago by CLAKSAARB from the bay area.

Danny Boyle (famed from Trainspotting, 28 Days Later, Sunshine) has released another glossy emotionally mind boggling epic. This time we have India in all its awe inspiring size and bulk, the screen virtually bursting with human beings. Despite the extremely obvious attempts at wrenching your heart the movie is overall impressive on many levels and unless you seem to missing some crucial parts lately you as well will be move by the end….
A R Rahman & M.I.A. – O…Saya
Here is the new M.I.A. jam. Sadly I found most of the soundtrack to be a bit lacking once I was removed from the theater though it did make me think about Baile Fidget all night.

We are re-branding the production side of this media monster in the making, just so slightly. The Website will stay the same but the events will now appear under the moniker of DigitaLove. Words! Branding and promotion! We obviously have too much time at the moment.
We also have a banging promotional mix by DJ Gray coming out very soon to support our brand new weekly party.

And less you forget, we are hosting a very legit night of hiphop, mashups and general dance floor hysteria on the 22nd. Between Low Budget and Dundiggy I could not think of better talent for the genre.

The DFA style of remixes seems to have been absent in recent memory with the hand claps and horns of the Discopunk moment being replaced in 2008 by the epic house build of remixes by acts like Deadmau5 and Soulwax. This is not to discredit DFA as a label and the creator of some amazing pop remixes a few years back. As if to prove continuing relevance this remix has recently surfaced, a hugely different, slowed down sports anthem like version M.I.A.’s biggest hit. It’s sweeping, it’s grand and it will likely not be heard on the dance floor. This is one for a big budget movie or headphones on a sunny day.

No I don’t mean Iran or Russia. Politically I would rather we kept our troops at home and rebuild our own world. But on the musical front it’s hard not to write about LGTW…
After doing a quick tour with M.I.A. and having the electro crunk anthem in “Life We Live” remixed by I-turn-everything-to-gold DJ Barletta LGTW is poised to pursue what this all means and turn a flash in the pan success into a career? Or at least become a name a little more well know.

“The Whole City’s Got a Cold” goes to the same territory as N.E.R.D.’s “Everyone Nose” but it goes a bit deeper with the beat, a slowed down ghetto bass line, hand claps and more interesting storytelling about skiing in July. “No one dances no more, they just sniff and sniff.”

Life we live is the club banger, another song about “heavy glamour, flashbulbs and young rockstars” but with more excitement and living in the moment euphoria then most.

Push up your lighter goes more crunk/pop rasta with another slowed down grinder of a beat.

In the top cadre of dance acts such as, Daft Punk, Justice, M.I.A., A-Track, Cromeo and now Santogold, Diplo has always been a major player as production, opener and touring DJ. Now he throws the same magic he used with M.I.A.’s Piracy Funds Terrorism at Santogold, creating Top Ranking, another mix featuring exclusive remixes and unreleased singles. While I hate to echo the other successful blogs, this is one occasion where I must say, GO DOWNLOAD IT.
