Drop The Lime//Matias Aguayo – This Weekend

If you aren’t already familiar with Drop The Lime, don’t ruin it for yourself. Be fully surprised by just going to his show this Friday at Branx. Such a small room, such gigantic sounds. The man’s resume, even on paper, speaks for itself. If you are the type who needs internet confirmation before attendance to any show, you’d do right to check out this, this, this and this. And really… those are just four examples of this guy’s amazing talent.

So see you there, but in case you somehow reserve energy for the next night (i’m currently struggling with this as a possibility) you have to go back to Rotture to check out Matias Aguayo. I’m listening to this guy right now, and what can I say… almost opposite ends of the dance spectrum from Drop The Lime. Mellow, but spastic. Familiar, but foreign. Think Matthew Dear if he let his absurdity get the best of him. Listen to his entire album here, and become convinced that no matter how tired you are from Drop The Lime at Branx on Friday, Aguayo the following night at Rotture is not to be missed.

Here is my first “official” mix. As in- I am really proud of this mix, i’m planning on burning it onto CD’s and generally do everything in my power to make all my friends listen to it. emotions as good things

So many songs get lost in the shuffle to keep up with the continuing new hotness bubbling forth. Too many genres, too many DJ’s and almost too many producers. When a song really connects with us, when we remember it an emotional times, when a song gives us the “oh wow” smile once again; these songs we must hang onto and file away some place safer then an itunes playlist.
Here are five songs I feel to be overlooked, underplayed and largely unknown.
I would not leave the house with out them.
