I’m pretty picky about my mixes, usually favoring to post individual tracks rather then an hour and a half of bangers. With laptop producing and the insane amount of mixing ability available to everyone, a mix really has to stand out and have some character.
This one does, sent to me a few days ago by CLAKSAARB from the bay area. CLAKSAARB- Step Once, Think Twice (Live In SF 11-07-09)

Here is my first “official” mix. As in- I am really proud of this mix, i’m planning on burning it onto CD’s and generally do everything in my power to make all my friends listen to it. Like Gray’s exceptional “Fidgetal Love” mix, I have put over a week into re-editing and re-recording. Here is the final version; enjoy!
Each track can be downloaded individually as well as the mixed version.
I should eat something. Or take a shower, or practice for my friends b-day party I am playing tonight.
But this song is phenomenal and I had to share my morning soundtrack. Wiley- Summertime (Crookers Remix)
Wiley first got big with “Wearing my Rolex” which was nice and bouncy in a cheeky sort of way. It also got remixed by everyone eager. This song should be no different though I expect this to be the best of the remixes to come as The Crookers are the most dependable thing in the genre.
The daft punk sample feels so fresh as if it had been written yesterday just for this song to use..
I occasionally DJ under the moniker “DJ Countzero” and occasionally my moniker half makes mixes for general public consumption. It has been a while in coming for this installment with most of my time lately being devoted to throwing a party rather then playing one. Come see me play at FUBAR the night before our party.
Track list after the jump jump.
In the top cadre of dance acts such as, Daft Punk, Justice, M.I.A., A-Track, Cromeo and now Santogold, Diplo has always been a major player as production, opener and touring DJ. Now he throws the same magic he used with M.I.A.’s Piracy Funds Terrorism at Santogold, creating Top Ranking, another mix featuring exclusive remixes and unreleased singles. While I hate to echo the other successful blogs, this is one occasion where I must say, GO DOWNLOAD IT.
Lately Sébastien Tellier has been the source of a lot of blog love due to the critical (and uncritical) obsession many of us have with Boys Noize who just remixed his song L’amour et la Violence . Tellier is equally fascinating as the talented singer and multi-instrumentalist who sings in three languages and makes beautiful moody music that’s deceptively hard to define. He opened for Air and his newest album was produced by one half of Daft Punk. How is that for credentials? Sébastien Tellier-L’amour et la Violence (Boys Noize Remix) Sébastien Tellier-Divine
(Diego wrote this, I just posted it. Thanks Digex!) Electroma was released to theaters a year ago, and now thanks to Vice Records it will be released on wide-screen DVD next month, along with a 40-page book. Check out the teaser if you haven’t seen it or the movie yet.
The film follows two robots (the band, however played by Peter Hurteau and Michael Reich, who played Daft Punk in the video for “Stronger”) as they wander through the desert on a quest to become human. The movie is unique for a Daft Punk release because it doesn’t feature any of their music, unlike Interstella 5555 or D.A.F.T. (which also happened to be home video releases, rather than theatrical). Electroma was directed by Thomas Bangalter (who studied over 200 issues of American Cinematographer in preparation) and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo in the California desert over eleven days and features music from Brian Eno, Sébastien Tellier, and Curtis Mayfield.
FBM is a blog written about all kinds of music. We often focus on small acts and DJs, promoting and loving what we consider to be the very best in Indy, Dubstep, House and far beyond. We are a collective of (currently) unpaid kids based out of Portland Oregon. We urge you to support this music and hence we will provide the the most accurate show listings and heads up on things to do in Portland.
This is all those things but more then anything else this is about community, about having as many authors contributing as much as possible and promoting all of our friends. I believe in politics as still being important and I believe in this generation still being relevant. Our culture is all we have.
Almost all of this music is sent to us by the creator and is entirely legal to download, if something slips through the cracks and you are the owner of a soundfile you wish removed, simply email us. Thank you.
