Moby, Benny Benassi & Paul Van Dyke. So reads one line of Chicago’s North Coast Music Festival poster, and really… that alone can inspire awe. But allow your jaw to drop further, as the rest of the lines boast names like Lupe Fiasco, Flying Lotus, Holy Ghost, Claude VonStroke, Benga, Boys Noize & the Chemical Brothers. And that doesn’t even cover all of the stages (or the after-parties).
The first ever North Coast Music Festival takes place the first weekend of September in Union Park, and we’ll be there to cover it all. You can be there too for the meager price of $40 per day. That’s about how much one of these artists alone would cost!
Check out our breakdown of the 3-day festival’s must sees:

I’m pretty picky about my mixes, usually favoring to post individual tracks rather then an hour and a half of bangers. With laptop producing and the insane amount of mixing ability available to everyone, a mix really has to stand out and have some character.
This one does, sent to me a few days ago by CLAKSAARB from the bay area.

Some of the recent electro club bangers show no sign of dying out any time soon with new remixes and edits flooding my inbox. And this is the way it should be. Certain melodies are just to classic to ever go away. With each new version you can intrigue a crowd while maintaining familiarity.
Meddle (AC Slater and DJ Skeet Skeet remix featuring GoldieLocks) – Little Boots
Township Funk – Sinden Remix (Barletta Re Edit) – Mujava
Working out is overrated – Don Diablo vs Missy Elliot
&Down (Disco Trash Music edit) - Boys Noize

Lately Sébastien Tellier has been the source of a lot of blog love due to the critical (and uncritical) obsession many of us have with Boys Noize who just remixed his song L’amour et la Violence . Tellier is equally fascinating as the talented singer and multi-instrumentalist who sings in three languages and makes beautiful moody music that’s deceptively hard to define. He opened for Air and his newest album was produced by one half of Daft Punk. How is that for credentials?
