Stones Throw x Fool’s Gold take over Rotture 8/14

Because A-trak knows what’s good for a dance-floor, he got a bunch of his buddies together for a series of evenings across the country called the Stones Throw x Fool’s Gold: Discotheque.  The Rules: Strictly Disco-Boogie and House Music.

I had the pleasure of attending this past weekend in Chicago and all I can say is, what an epic line-up.  Although this will change a little from date-to-date, the core elements in DJ sets by Stones Throw’s Peanut Butter Wolf, and Fool’s Gold’s A-Trak make the journey.  Portland’s Line up is as follows:

A-Trak
Nacho Lovers
Peanut Butter Wolf
J Rocc

Check out some photos from last night after the jump, and consider this your motivation to make the show this coming Saturday.  After Chromeo Friday, and this show Saturday, I fully expect to hear about some hellish hangovers.

Free Download: A-Trak – Dirty South Dance 2

If I had a dime for everytime I, listened to, fucked to, worked out to, came down to the original Dirty South Dance, I’d have probably made much more than A-Trak did in releasing the album.  It’s a banger in every sense of the word.

Now he’s released Dirty south Dance 2, and you can download it for free in its entirety right here:

Steve Angello – Rave n’ Roll

Turns out we’ve written quite a bit about Steve Angello’s tracks in the past. This particular track comes to me via A-Trak’s twitter, where he claims it is the “Biggest monster” in his playlist.

It is intense as hell.

I don’t know what you call this stuff… (rave?) but it had my whole house fist-pumping and begging for more. All I can find is a rip from a Tiesto mix (who just played PDX 2 nights ago!) but even with the abrupt ending, this leaves plenty to be desired.

Check it out!

Here is my first “official” mix. As in- I am really proud of this mix, i’m planning on burning it onto CD’s and generally do everything in my power to make all my friends listen to it. Like Gray’s exceptional “Fidgetal Love” mix, I have put over a week into re-editing and re-recording. Here is the final version; enjoy!

Each track can be downloaded individually as well as the mixed version.

A-Trak, Aoki

A-trak is the best DJ in the world. Not because he is Kanye West’s touring go getter, not because he was winning scratch battles in his teens, not because he remixes the hot electro bangers but simply because he made an album called Dirty South Dance. This did what 2-Many Dj’s had done years ago, seamlessly mixing pop into a something elegant enough to be called music, genuine art and no empty mashup. The breakthrough was the meeting of indy and hyphy, New Young Pony Club was now a team player with 36 Mafia. It was like Girl Talk thirty second spazz genuis had mellowed out and found a real adult home.

Now Aoki on the other hand…

A respected rich kid with a record label a clothing line and decent electro sets for faces like Paris Hilton and the really exclusive after parties finally dropped his full length in 2007. A bit outdated, easily likable and a complete rip off of Dirty South Dance with the most hipster title yet know.

 “Oh!” Boys Noize (A-Trak Remix)
We are rockstars feat. spank rock & amanda blank with does it offend you yeah (Aoki)
La musique (Sinden Remix)

The interesting part is that these two gentleman are playing a show three hours north in two days. And they happen to be playing with Sinden, La Riots, Pretty Titty and Sammy Bannanas.
