This is not a particularly new mix and I imagine you dismissed the original a year ago. However some combinations of music need to be saved and appreciated, refreshed back to the top of your Itunes. I am a sucker for pop music and heavy synth, for catchy beats and crowd familiarity. And I safely assume you are the same.
Here’s a new mashup I’ve been working on for the past couple of weeks. I was very much inspired by The Hood Internet, but I found it impossible to DJ with the version found on thier third mix tape, so I made my own , which includes a couple more guest vocals by Kanye West and Trix, and I’m giving to you in a 320kpbs format. Let me know what you think in the comments, and if you think you can make a better edit, I’ve included the original instrumental and acappella elements (& video’s after the jump) for you to make your own mashup.
Thank god DJ Kue remixed their track “I’m on a Boat” so that I gave it a chance. I love the fact that T-Pain guests on this track, fully confirming that he’s in on the joke of his popularity and public persona. My favorite line has got to be T-Pains
“I never thought I’d be on a boat / it’s a big blue watery road / Poooooseeeeiden !/ Look at me! / oh woh / I’d never thought I’d see the day/ When a big boat’d come my way/ Believe me when I say / I FUCKED A MERMAID!”
And then of course there’s this parody of the Ying Yang Twins that really make me question why their Whisper Song ever made it on the radio in the first place.
By now, everyone who’s ever read a single music blog or go into an electro-themed or hipster dance party has heard this single by Cleveland rapper Kid Cudi. Perhaps you even seen at a somewhat explicit music video, that evidently Kid Cudi isn’t so jazzed about. I did learn one thing from the video though, his name is pronounced Cuud-ee, not like cootie.
Thanks to Minus for sending me his remix, and inspiring this post. Go read his blog, NoRequestsPlease
In celebration of the election, I’m releasing a new mix I have been hard at work at for the past several weeks. “For several weeks?!” you say? yes, that’s right, I’ve been building it bit by bit using Traktor DJ studio 3.4. I don’t care what you say about replicating the authenticity of a live set, this mix is awesome and all the levels sound spot on because I can go back to any point in the mix and change the frequencies as much as I need.
So here it is, my “Fidgetal Love October 2008 mix.” For you Portlanders, if you like this, come to ElectriCity this Friday and every Friday after that; you’re likely to hear much of the same.
Gavin Burrows is a producer and DJ from Derby in Northern England. His tracks will fit nicely into any and all playlists that bridge the gap between tech-house and the world of fidget and bangers (click on the image above to visit his myspace page where you can download two of his mixes, both of which vindicate the above claim). While he cites Justice, Daft Punk, and many other usual suspects amongst his influences, these tracks are distinctive insofar as they lean more towards the traditional house side of the sonic spectrum (and towards the techy side of that spectrum as well). He already has a number of tracks and remixes released, however, the tracks posted below are still being shopped around for release as The Eagle Has Landed EP. He is presently planning a U.S. tour for the upcoming summer, so keep your eyes peeled.
At our show Friday, we were really excited to announce that we’d booked Jokers of the Scene to play in November. But then a whole bunch of stuff happened, and that’s not going to happen. But if you don’t already know about them, you really should.
JOKERS OF THE SCENE are from Ottawa Canada, and are on Fool’s Gold, djs A-Track and Nick Catchdubs label . They’ve being putting out some amazing remixes, and a few of their own original tracks as well. I’d classify them in the fidget genre, though they’ve also got some epic electrotech productions, and their remix of SLUTT’s “Stop Copying Me” is pure brash noise. I played it last friday, and everyone hated me
Kill the Noise is an amazing producer/remixer/dj that will be gracing our fair city in a few weeks thanks to fubar. He also happens to be the man behind the amazing mashup project, ludachrist. Check out this amazing video of a live ludachrist concert featuring a dancing spongebob and barney!
KILL THE NOISE Presents: TURN OFF / TUNE IN – VOL. 2
As you may have figured out, I like to promote DJ’s who haven’t gotten so much love, perhaps because they’re primarily dj’s, rather than producers (like me). So here’s my latest promotion, of a french dj by the damn of Dactylo. Besides the fact it freatures noisy grinding electro, he really pays attention to transition timing and buildups.
FBM is a blog written about all kinds of music. We often focus on small acts and DJs, promoting and loving what we consider to be the very best in Indy, Dubstep, House and far beyond. We are a collective of (currently) unpaid kids based out of Portland Oregon. We urge you to support this music and hence we will provide the the most accurate show listings and heads up on things to do in Portland.
This is all those things but more then anything else this is about community, about having as many authors contributing as much as possible and promoting all of our friends. I believe in politics as still being important and I believe in this generation still being relevant. Our culture is all we have.
Almost all of this music is sent to us by the creator and is entirely legal to download, if something slips through the cracks and you are the owner of a soundfile you wish removed, simply email us. Thank you.
