SuperPre-Fest Ticket Giveaway: Dat Politics//Strength

super-pre-fest

How else can I describe Strength to you except for to describe my history with the band. Before I had ever met the band, I asked them to play my good friend Kiran’s birthday party. I neglected to tell them it was her 18th birthday party… and that they’d be playing my parents house while they were out of town. Regardless of all this… they were down, and remain that way today. As the band has watched me grow, so have I them. Although they refuse to release a full length record, it only helps to encourage their fans check them out live. It’s the only way, at this point, to hear their new songs! Plus, Thursday’s show comes jam packed with Portland’s own Breakfast Mountain, and the fucking insane Dat Politics (who’s new album Mad Kit is pretty astounding).

So, with all that said… to help facilitate your hearing Strength’s songs, we’re giving away a pair of tickets to the show courtesy of Rotture, where it is all going down. All you have to do is write a statement to Strength encouraging them to release their record already!!! Post it in the comments below, and we’ll pass it along to them before the show. Deadline is Wednesday night! Get excited for this Community Disco!

you played at my birthday! and i’m pretty sure it was my 17th birthday. release a fuckin record already!

We can do better than this!!! Was it 17? Damn, further emphasis on their down-ness.

I remember the first time I saw Strength on that night in your basement, times where good and they made it better. But anyway I actually sent this to Strength on myspace, but here is what I had to say on the matter:

Hey hey,
I would like to say ‘How can you expect me to dance nonstop to the same 8 songs on Going Strong?’ But whether or not it is expected i find myself completely capable of moving my body to these same songs because they are great! But if you put out another record imagine how much more my close amigos and i could dance? I mean, we may never have to stop wiggling around to your great sound!
Another record would make my 2009 extra extra fine.
with love, lauren!

i won’t say anything about kiran’s birthday for the sake of but i will say that our wildly popular friends strength have been keeping this city excited even longer than we have and if they think they’re gonna get away with going all unattainable on us they best believe we’ll call them out. nobody else keeps the kids dancing like you do, gentlemen.
release! release! it goes without saying that it will be to mindboggling acclaim.

you guys are amazing! i love dancing at your shows now all i need is for you three handsome fellows to release a full length album so i can dance at home too! i also love hearing all your new songs at the shows, but i don’t know the words so if you recorded them i could sing along with you, one of my favorite parts about going to the shows, (and caressing bailey when he comes into the audience) so do it! what are you waiting for? we are all waiting for you! still trying to take a ride in johns two door super cab. rad.
with much much love,
alyse
