NEON’S 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY! @ BRANX! come enjoy a night a debauchery and electro banging on the dancefloor. Drinks will be flowing and the smell of motor oil and American muscle will fill the air. This is NEON’s first anniversary so come out and show some support for your KNITES! They are sure to have a special treat lined up for you.

Neon is an electro party, but what does that mean? To some, it’s Hashim, The Russell Brothers, Newcleus, , and Yello. To others it’s Peaches, Fischerspooner, and Scissor Sisters. Neon is neither of these sorts of electro party, but the music you’ll hear there surely got its inspiration from those past waves in electro. Neon is contemporary electro, as in 2008, as in the current month in electro from around the world. Expect to hear Switch, Boy 8 Bit, Heartsrevolution, Fake Blood, Crookers, Presets, etc. Call it electro house if you want, but the Neon party presents the freshest and most interesting of current dance music that blends indie rock, hip hop, new rave, disco punk, techno, trance, and pop culture references into one night of non-stop dancing.

In June of 2007 the Neon party was started by Tre Slim under the name of ‘Knites of Neon’ as multi-styled electronic music dance party featuring DJs and live electronic musicians. It was one of the first events booked in the newly opened venue, Branx below Rotture in the industrial neighborhood of South East Portland.
Not long after its start, Tre Slim attracted the interests of other local DJs and a VJ and added DJ Patricia Furpurse , DJ Koolaid, Pocketrock-it , and VJ Welkin

Over the course of its first year, Neon has presented many local and out of state electronic musicians and DJs such as PJ Pooterhoots (SF), Le Raided (LA), Jerry Abstract (SEA), Joey Casio (OLY), DJ Recess (SEA), Guidance Counselor (PDX), DJs Eats Tapes (SF), DJ Dome (PDX), DJ Linoleum (PDX), Joeeirwin (PDX), DJ Bonaparte (PDX), Ian Hix (CHGO), DJ Copy (PDX), Atole (PDX), DJ Countzero (PDX), The Skin Electric (PDX), and many others. Currently, Neon happens on 1st Fridays at Branx and 2nd Fridays at Rotture of every month. The party starts at 10pm sharp and ends at 2:30am. It is 21+ and has a $3 cover.
