Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson

I should’ve known! Everything Grizzly Bear touches turns to gold, and Oregon’s own Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson is absolutely no exception. Working with Chris and Chris (and Daniel) of Grizzly Bear, Miles recorded an album in 2006 that is not to be dismissed! Being fair though, Miles is far from the wispy subtleties of Grizzly Bear. Surely their influence shows, but Miles’ music is of a more folk bombast, with vocals not far off that of The Castanets (shit, Beck even), and music reminiscent of Deer Tick, and even Grizzly Bear tour friends Radiohead.

I’m not kidding when I tell you that this is your new favorite band. This is going to be an honest-to-god I told you so to those who choose to ignore him for long. Long in this case, however, will not last, as his debut self titled full length is set for release July 1st on Say Hey. It’s a near flawless listen from start to finish, that demands repeat upon repeat. Be sure to pick this album up, and catch him at (yes… again) Berbati’s on May 24th with White Rabbits.
