Me Want Dance!

I’ve been kinda slacking on blog duties as of late. Fractured elbows make it hard to type. But I’ve still been getting lots of music, and I thought I’d share some slammin summer jams with y’all.
Part One
Crookers-Purple lens game (Bloody Beetroots)
Azzido Da Bass-Dooms Night (Crookers Remix)
Clazziquai-Prayers (Shinichi Osawa Remix)
Crookers-para de gracinha
Boy 8-Bit-Fog Bank (Jack Beats [...]

My DJ Premier!

I am honored and lucky to be able to play next to Patricia and Koolaid in my first club gig ever; of all the DJ’s in the this town I consider these two to be the most serious about the music and the least interested in social climbing or hipster politics. I hope to see [...]

Failed It/Nailed It

-in which we discuss: Success where others have failed.

Unfortunately we missed Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip @ Coachella this year, but I wasn’t there so don’t blame me! Thank god the album, angles, is out now, because we’ve been getting single after single of amazing originals followed by even better remixes. In this case [...]

Sleepy Portland

I don’t usually like songs about smoking pot. Except for exceptional reggae or the new club staple in “Hit me on my beeper, beeper, beeper” the last thing I want to hear while relaxing is some kid singing about his new found state of mind. That opinion is shifting with Pounds Of Dro by Jamtech [...]

Japanther & The Pharmacy @ Shady Pines 5/27/08

Japanther has been a band for nearly 8 years, and are still down to play house shows. If that doesn’t give you enough of an idea of what these guys are about, just listen to their highly regarded Leather Wings LP, or check out their amazing label, Tapes Records. Somehow staying out of the spotlight, [...]

UPDATE: Sasquatch Day Three

Like Fleet Foxes two days prior, Yeasayer took to the stage at 12:00 or so to more or less start the last day’s amazing lineup. Surprisingly energetic for it being so early, Yeasayer played phenomenally with their debut crossing over very well into the live setting. While their album never blew me away, their live [...]

UPDATE: Sasquatch Day Two

I was standing toward the front of a dismal White Rabbits crowd who, like me, skipped the Cold War Kids to wait for about 30 minutes while listening to Sum 41’s All Killer No Filler in what feels like its entirety. If you’re fortunate, you saw White Rabbits last Saturday with the sure-to-be amazing Miles [...]

Cultish, raving monks in a Mayan temple.

Our favorite summer jam got turned into the weirdest video of the summer. I am a sucker for lasers but perhaps the director could zoom in once or twice? I feel like I am twenty five feet away from two drama students on acid.

UPDATE: Sasquatch Day One

After a beautiful 4 hour drive we’ve finally arrived at Sasquatch. Fleet Foxes played a very pretty set that seemingly won over the surprisingly large crowd. I cheated by hanging in the air conditioned press tent until Portland’s own THE SHAKY HANDS took the stage.

The shaky hands took to [...]

Here’s a peek at what we’ve been up to.
